first_imgPanaji, May 26 (PTI) Water sports, which were suspended by the Goa government for two days, owing to rough sea, will resume tomorrow, an official said. The Ports department had issued an order suspending water sports for two days – yesterday and today – after death of a tourist in South Goa during a water sport.”We had issued the orders after there was a casualty on the Colva beach. Water sports was stopped yesterday and will resume tomorrow,” Captain of Ports James Braganza told PTI.He said from tomorrow only para-sailing and jet-ski would be allowed and that too under restricted timings.According to Braganza, these activities would be permitted depending on the weather condition and winds. The department will be meeting again on May 30 to decide the fate of water sports activity, he added. The order came yesterday, after a tourist from West Bengal died on May 24, after reportedly falling from the parachute on Colva beach in South Goa.”At the time of the incident, Drishti (lifeguard providing firm) had some of its most experienced and well-trained lifeguards at the location,” a Drishti Lifesaving Services spokesperson said.”Although best efforts were made, the tourist could not be revived. The lifeguards were on high alert since the weather was extremely dangerous for water sports,” he said.Goa beaches are currently flooded with tourists due to the summer vacations.
